The Dutch Student Orchestra (NSO) is a young and national project orchestra founded in 1952, which is assembled anew every year from talented students who, alongside their studies at a college or university, engage in classical music at a high level. In February, the selected students pause their studies to fully dedicate themselves to music for a month: after an intensive rehearsal period, the orchestra embarks on an extensive international tour, visiting both domestic and foreign venues. Traditionally, the tour includes performances at the ten major Dutch concert halls, as well as some international venues. Each year, the program combines a challenging 'major work' with collaborations featuring different young Dutch soloists and composers, all under the guidance of a renowned conductor.
